KUALA LUMPUR, 4 December Leading engineering-based infrastructure and services conglomerate, UEM Group Berhad (UEM Group) and its subsidiaries today reaffirmed its commitment against corruption and towards good governance as it signs the Corruption-Free Pledge with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Group, Dato’ Izzaddin Idris led the declaration of the pledge with the presence of 250 of its staff including senior management team from across its Group of Companies namely – PLUS Malaysia Berhad, UEM Sunrise Berhad, UEM Builders Berhad, Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA); and UEM Edgenta Berhad. The ceremony took place at UEM Group’s headquarters in Mercu UEM, KL Sentral witnessed by MACC’s Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention), Dato’ Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil.

“The pledge reinforces the will and the corruption-free stand of the Board and top management of UEM Group of Companies and sets a clear leadership tone that there is no compromise on the issue of corruption.

“It also demonstrates our long-standing affirmation and commitment in promoting integrity and good governance values amongst our personnel. We do not tolerate abuse of power or corruption and we are serious in ensuring that there are no corrupt practices or elements of corruption throughout our organisation,” said Dato’ Izzaddin.

The Corruption-Free Pledge is an initiative introduced by MACC, a promise made voluntarily on an individual capacity, by an organization and its employees to ensure pledgers who signed will be more responsible in conducting their duties and in abstaining from any corrupt activities during their holding.
